Muhasaba Pro can use free local AI with Ollama. This lets customers get smarter journal entry suggestions without paying for OpenAI API usage, while the AI runs locally on their computer or server.

What This Does

Smart Assist can draft debit and credit lines.

Local AI helps suggest debit/credit journal entry drafts from plain-language transaction notes. The entries are drafts only and must be reviewed before posting.

Because Ollama runs on the Muhasaba computer or server, accounting data stays local during these suggestions.

Requirements

Before you start

  • Windows computer or server running Muhasaba Pro.
  • Ollama installed.
  • Recommended model downloaded: llama3.1.
  • Muhasaba app running with Local AI enabled.

Plan for at least 10 GB of free disk space for Ollama plus the recommended model.

Setup Steps

Install Ollama, download the model, then test Smart Assist.

Download Ollama

Install Ollama on the Windows computer or server that runs Muhasaba Pro.

Install The Model

Open PowerShell on the Muhasaba computer or server and run:

ollama pull llama3.1
Step 3

Test In Muhasaba

Open Muhasaba and go to Journal Entries → Create Journal Entry → Smart Assist. Type a transaction and click Suggest Draft.

Troubleshooting

If Smart Assist does not respond

  • If AI does not respond, make sure Ollama is running.
  • If the app is on a server, install Ollama on the server, not only the client laptop.
  • After installing Ollama or a model, restart Muhasaba if Smart Assist still cannot connect.

Check that the model is installed by running:

ollama list

If the model is missing, run:

ollama pull llama3.1

After Ollama and llama3.1 are installed, open Smart Assist inside Muhasaba and suggest a draft journal entry.
