Formula
age = as-of date − birth date
How it works
Calendar years, months and days are counted separately between the two dates (not just converted from a day count), the same way age is normally described.
Worked example
The same calculation with the default values:
- Birth day 15
- Birth month 6
- Birth year 2,000
- As-of day 23
- As-of month 10
- As-of year 2,026
- total days = 739,911 − 730,285 = 9,626
- age = 26 years 4 months 8 days
- days until next birthday = 235
Result: Years: 26 · Months: 4 · Days: 8
The "as-of" date is whatever you choose, not automatically today - set it to today's date for your current age.
Common mistakes
- Entering the as-of date before the birth date.
- Treating "total days" and "years/months/days" as two different ages rather than two ways of expressing the same one.
- Entering 29 February for a birth day in a year where it does not exist as a date.
